Trump's Rousing AI Campaign: Bombing Iran, Claiming the Moon, Arm Wrestling Hulk Hogan, and More

Summary from the AllSides News Team

President Donald Trump posted about 40 times on Truth Social in what Daily Beast (Left bias) called "a particularly frantic posting spree" on Sunday.

The Posts: The AI-generated posts pertained to a range of polarizing issues and included Trump launching strikes on Iran, renaming New Mexico to "New America," and claiming not only Canada and Mexico but also the moon as US territories. Several depicted Trump as "The Greatest," with one ranking other US presidents from "Great" to "Failures." Others, such as Trump "arm wrestling" the late wrestler Hulk Hogan – as well as one image of Trump's face on Hogan's body – appeared more arbitrary.

On The Left: Outlets on the left most prominently covered the posts, and some highlighted subsequent calls to invoke the 25th Amendment in response. Though Daily Beast suggested such a measure would not likely succeed, it asserted, "[Trump's] mental acuity has long been called into question." The outlet analyzed that Trump averages about 24 posts on Truth Social per day and, reporting with the assumption that the president live-publishes the posts on his own, said, "The Beast found a worrying trend in how often the president posts on Truth Social between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., showing that there were only five days in April when Trump, who has a habit of falling asleep in public, could have had a full night's sleep."

Many outlets also suggested a link between the posts and upcoming 2026 Midterm Elections. Mediaite (Lean Left) highlighted this mounting "political pressure… including polls that show voter dissatisfaction over the economy, cost of living, and his administration's handling of Iran." MS NOW (Left) opinion writer Zeeshan Aleem (Left) said, "Trump's Truth Social crash out shows how ill-prepared he is for the midterms." He postulated, "He's so petty, self-involved and fixated on shallow branding exercises that he's not even able to put his party in the best position to maintain a majority in Congress."

On The Right: Outlets on the right produced far less coverage on the posts, which conservatives often dismiss as satire rather than "propaganda." New York Post (Right) reasoned, "[Trump] regularly uses his social media account to communicate his ideas, attack his critics and just post things he finds interesting or amusing." While Daily Beast inflammatorily said one of the posts depicted Trump "tackling" Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, The Post more ambiguously said Trump was "looming" over Carney, "who ha[d] fallen."
