Kamala Devi Harris (b. October 20, 1964, in Oakland, California) is the 49th vice president of the United States. She took office on January 20, 2021, alongside President Joe Biden (D). Harris is the first woman, Black person, and person of South Asian descent to serve as vice president.
Harris is running in the 2024 presidential election. She declared her candidacy on July 21, 2024. An Associated Press survey of Democratic delegates estimated Vice President Kamala Harris (D) had reached the majority delegate threshold necessary to become the Democratic presidential nominee on July 22, 2024, following Joe Biden's (D) withdrawal from the race.[1][2]
