Plover wins 2024 Gregg Johnson/Al Erickson Memorial Tournament

ESCANABA — Plover brought home the big prize from the Gregg Johnson/Al Erickson Memorial American Legion baseball tournament, defeating Norway 6-0 in the title game here Sunday. Although the Central Wisconsin visitors got only five hits, they capitalized on eight walks and two errors while improving to 6-7 this season. “Our pitchers pounded the strike zone and played good defense,” Plover manager Wayne Sankey said. “We made the plays when we needed to.
