Conservative radio host Larry Elder Thursday announced he is running for president on Thursday, becoming the fourth challenger to take on former President Donald Trump for the Republican Party’s nomination for the 2024 election.
Elder made the announcement while appearing on Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s show saying he feels “a moral, religious and a patriotic duty,” to give back to the country.
When asked by Carlson about what particular issue was driving him to run, Elder said he wants to push back against the Democrats’ “absolute disgraceful lie” that America is systemically racist.
Shortly after his appearance, Elder issued a statement on Twitter saying the country needs to choose a leader who can bring it to a “new American Golden Age,” as he unveiled the website and slogan for his campaign.
