RFK Jr. Challenges President Biden to Commit to 'No-Spoiler' Pledge

Independent 2024 presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy challenged President Joe Biden to take a “no-spoiler” pledge ahead of the election. 

Details: Kennedy's proposal would entail the two campaigns co-funding a poll in October asking over 30,000 Americans in all 50 states who they would vote for in a matchup between Biden and former President Donald Trump, and who they would vote for in a matchup between Kennedy and Trump. Whoever fares better against Trump stays in the race, and the other drops out. Speaking at a campaign event on Wednesday, Kennedy showed attendees polls indicating he would beat Trump in a general election, while Biden would lose. 

Key Quotes: Kennedy stated, “We only have one chance to beat Donald Trump, and we need a nominee who can get the job done. And that would be me.” He added, “If I remain in the race and the election were held today, President Trump would win and President Biden would lose. President Trump is not a spoiler, because he can actually win, but I'm happy to make this same pledge with President Trump because I can do better against President Biden than President Trump can.” Democratic National Committee spokesperson Matt Corridoni said Kennedy’s proposed pledge is “as deeply unserious his campaign is”
