Nikki Haley Requests Secret Service Protection Citing ‘Multiple Issues’

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has requested Secret Service protection, The Wall Street Journal (Center bias) reported.

Facing Threats: Haley attributed the request to “multiple issues”  her campaign has faced recently. Last week in Columbia, South Carolina, a protesting Israel’s war in Gaza was apprehended by Haley’s private security team when she tried to rush the stage at one of Haley’s events. Haley previously said her home had been swatted twice in recent months.

For Context: In July 2023, then-Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was denied Secret Service protection by the Biden administration, which he believed was unfair. The Secret Service’s website, says major candidates will receive protection 120 days before a general presidential election, but recent candidates like Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Ben Carson all received protection over a year before their respective general election dates.
