New York Times Editorial Board Endorses Kamala Harris for President

The New York Times Editorial Board (Left bias) endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election on Monday, describing her as “the only patriotic choice.”

The Case for Harris: The Board acknowledged the Biden administration’s “failures to fix what’s broken — from our immigration system to public schools to housing costs to gun violence,” but urged voters to “contrast Ms. Harris’s record with her opponent’s.” It praised Harris for being “a dedicated public servant” and offering “a shared future for all citizens, beyond hate and division.

Remarks on Trump: The Board wrote that “it is hard to imagine a candidate more unworthy to serve” than former President Donald Trump, and said he lacks the “wisdom, honesty, empathy, courage, restraint, humility, (and) discipline” that are required of a U.S. president. It also praised Trump for adding to the “public conversation,” saying “he broke decades of Washington consensus and led both parties to wrestle with the downsides of globalization, unrestrained trade and China’s rise.” Ultimately, the Board concluded Trump is “most dangerous for American democracy” and “transformed the Republican Party… into little more than an instrument of his quest to regain power.”
