How worried should Democrats be about new polling showing former President Donald Trump leading President Joe Biden in several key battleground states?

Now or Never: In response to the poll numbers, former President Obama’s senior adviser David Axelrod highlighted “legitimate concern” for Democrats, suggesting Biden should step aside. He stated, “If he continues to run, he will be the nominee of the Democratic Party. What he needs to decide is whether that is wise; whether it's in HIS best interest or the country's?”

Don’t Panic: A writer in CNN Opinion (Left bias) stated that Democrats “can’t ignore the polls but shouldn’t be panicked by them.” Comparing Biden’s current situation with that of Obama in 2011, who also faced worrisome poll numbers heading into a reelection campaign, the writer argues, “Obama won in large part by way of a superior ground game in terms of ensuring that voters who supported him actually did cast a ballot. Biden — who was Obama’s vice president — is obviously well aware of this.”

Panic: The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board (Lean Right bias) determined the poll numbers are “cause for soul-searching in the Oval Office.” Determining that the numbers indicate an alternate Democratic candidate would have a better chance of beating Trump, who “has benefited from his relative lack of exposure while being out of office,” the board warns, “Mr. Biden surely doesn’t want to go down in history as the Democrat who overstayed his welcome and restored Donald Trump to power.”
