Harris Interviewed By Fox News

Vice President Kamala Harris sat down with Bret Baier of Fox News (Right bias) for a 27-minute interview that aired Wednesday evening. 

Interview Highlights:

• For the first 10 minutes, Baier asked Harris about how President Joe Biden's administration handled immigration policy, suggesting it had failed to appropriately deter unauthorized immigration. Harris countered that the administration was more willing to solve immigration problems than Donald Trump, pointing to its support of a border security bill that failed after Trump encouraged congressional Republicans to vote against it.
• When asked what she'd do differently than Biden, Harris highlighted her housing policy proposals and said she offered a chance to move on from Trump's "divisive rhetoric." Baier questioned how Harris was "turning the page" despite having "been in office for three and a half years." Harris responded by listing former Trump administration officials who have called him "unfit to serve," "unstable" and "dangerous."
• Baier asked if Harris had concerns about Biden's "mental faculties." Harris said Biden had the "judgement and experience" to make "important decisions," but also that "Joe Biden is not on the ballot, and Donald Trump is."

How the Media Covered It: The Hill (Center) spotlighted the immigration exchange, while Fox Business (Lean Right) featured the economic policy questions. National Review (Lean Right) said Harris "stumbled" and "had trouble answering questions." ABC (Lean Left) called the interview "combative" and focused on Harris' critiques of Trump for undemocratic actions. Daily Beast (Left) said Baier "played the MAGA hits."
