Before we ring in 2023, we look back at the most popular articles that we posted to our website in 2022.

For the third consecutive year, COVID-19 tops our list. Nine of the 10 most popular articles were about the pandemic. And most of those were false claims about the vaccines.

Here’s the list, in order.

Throughout 2022, PolitiFact tackled misinformation across a myriad of issues, including multiple mass shootings, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, abortion access after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, and the midterm elections.

PolitiFact wanted to take a look at what fact-checks our readers clicked on the most.

Many of our top fact-checks were of statements surfaced

It was a challenging task but an esteemed panel of NewsBusters editors led by MRC President L.Brent Bozell and MRC’s Vice President for Research and Publications Brent Baker boiled down all the biased outbursts from lefty hack hosts, anchors, reporters and pundits in 2022 and on December 15 announced The Brian Stelter Memorial Award for Quote of the Year.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers and his fellow Democrats worked Tuesday to keep the spotlight on abortion ahead of next month's state Supreme Court election, resurrecting a bill that would repeal the state's 1849 ban on the practice. Democrats introduced the bill in June days before the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that legalized abortion nationwide.
