The Mobile City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in support of allowing voters to decide on an annexation plan that could bring more than 25,000 new residents into the city. If the annexation plan is approved during a special election, Mobile will become Alabama's second largest city behind only Huntsville.
