President-elect Donald Trump was sentenced Friday morning for his criminal conviction in the Manhattan hush money case, positioning him to become the first convicted felon in the White House.

The punishment for his crimes? There isn’t one.

“Ordinary citizens do not receive those legal protections,” New York Justice Juan Merchan said Friday morning. “It is the office of the president that bestows those to the office holder. It is the citizenry of this nation that recently decided that you should once again receive the benefits of those protections.”
