Vice President Kamala Harris‘s campaign is coming off a feel-good week at the Democratic National Convention, and the campaign’s fundraising figures have added to that feeling.
The Harris campaign, in a memo Sunday, said it had raised $540 million since Harris launched her campaign just over a month ago, when President Joe Biden dropped his reelection bid. Harris campaign chairwoman Jen O’Malley Dillon said in the memo that just before Harris’s Thursday DNC speech was their largest single hour in funds raised this cycle for their campaign.
“Just before Vice President Harris’ acceptance speech Thursday night, we officially crossed the $500 million mark,” O’Malley Dillon said in the memo, according to the Associated Press. “Immediately after her speech, we saw our best fundraising hour since launch day.”
Prior to Biden’s decision to drop out on July 21, fundraising had dried up for Democrats as the president bled support in the polls to former President Donald Trump. After Biden dropped out, the money flow resumed in large numbers.
