Author Marianne Williamson suspended her long-shot presidential primary campaign, challenging President Joe Biden for the Democratic party’s nomination after a string of poor performances in Nevada, South Carolina and New Hampshire.
In a statement on her campaign website, Williamson said she greatly appreciated the people who supported her, adding: “While the level of our failure is obvious to all, a level of success is real nonetheless.”
The author said she plans to keep the ‘Marianne2024’ website active and hopes future candidates “will take what works for them, drinking from the well of information we prepared.”
In a YouTube video accompanying the announcement, Williamson said her campaign “spoke for those whose lives are falling apart…because of bad public policy,” and did what it could to “shed some light in darkened times.”
