State Sen. Roland Gutierrez, a Democrat whose district includes Uvalde, sued the Texas Department of Public Safety on Wednesday, arguing that he is entitled to receive official records related to the Robb Elementary shooting.
The lawsuit, filed in state District Court in Travis County, said it's time to provide answers for Uvalde residents who lost a loved one in the May 24 shooting that killed 19 students and two teachers.
"To date, they have been met with lies, misstatements, and shifts of blame," the lawsuit said. "The State of Texas failed these families, and those families deserve to know the complete, unalterable truth about what happened that day."
