The Election is over. What comes next?

Join an AllSides Roundtable: What's Next for Democracy

Whether you’re relieved by the election, disappointed, exhausted, or just ready to stop checking the news every ten minutes — you’re probably asking the same question as everyone else: what happens next?

The week of November 16, AllSides is holding a Roundtable to discuss what Americans actually want from our system — not who won, not who was right, but what kind of country people want to live in.

It’s not a debate, and it’s not just listening to a panel of experts. You will participate in a conversation with four to six other people you’ve never met, guided by a structured approach to dialogue across differences that we use here at AllSides.

The question we'll explore: If we were to transform the system — with all the people, for all the people — what would it take for the government and the economy to work just as well for a rural family in Mississippi as it does for the entrepreneur in San Francisco?

Elections change who holds power, but they rarely change how the system works. Still, there is common ground. Researchers have identified more than 200 policy positions supported by 60 to 80 percent of Americans across party lines. Most Americans have no idea that agreement exists — because we've never been given a structured way to discover it together.

The election decided who governs. What comes next is up to all of us.

Join us for one hour from the comfort of your home. Cameras on, talking to real people instead of just typing into the void.

AllSides Roundtables has been used to inform real policy decisions — from housing affordability in Carmel, Indiana to a national conversation on political violence co-hosted with Newsweek.

No policy expertise required. Leave your debate skills at home. Just provide your honest answer to a question most of us have been asking ourselves for a long time.

After the conversation, our team will share a report capturing the answers from everyone who attends — anonymized — to share with the national leaders governing what comes next.
