Elon Musk Responds to Potential Democratic Investigations After Midterm Elections
Trillionaire Elon Musk responded on X to calls for lawmakers to investigate him if Democrats win the majority in either the House or Senate after the 2026 midterm elections.
Musk's Response: Politico (Lean Left bias) posted an article on X titled Capitol Agenda: Dem Gavels Are Coming for Elon Musk. Musk responded to the post, saying "Live by the sword, die by the sword. Those who pick fights with me should understand that I will find out who is really pulling the strings and come for them, not just their puppets…" The Politico article highlighted Democrats "list of potential probes," which included digging into Musk's possible role in "throttling crucial internet access to the Ukrainian military" and his "role in eliminating over 250,000 federal jobs during his time at DOGE[Department of Government Efficiency]" and dismantling the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
'A War Posture': Outlets on the left like HuffPost (Left) tended to frame Musk's response around him appearing "concerned" after lawmakers "burgeoning calls" to investigate him, adding that "he seemed particularly troubled" by the Politico article. The coverage highlighted Musk's response, titling the article Elon Musk Blows Fuse Over Calls For Potential Investigations Into Him: 'I Will Find Out.' The Washington Post (Lean Left) said "A host of Democrats have said they are eager to wield the power of their office to investigate the tech titan and his ventures should they win either chamber in the midterms," adding that "Elon Musk has adopted a war posture in response" to these "looming threats."
'Post-Election Plan': Outlets on the right like The New York Post (Right) tended to frame Musk's response as a warning and not as something borne from a place of concern, saying "Them's fightin' words." Just The News (Lean Right) said Musk's response "warned Democrats that he was prepared to play hardball with them." Blaze Media (Right) said that "Democrats have long accused Musk of having various conflicts of interest with the actions he took when he headed up the Department of Government Efficiency." The Blaze article called the threat to "attack" Musk the Democrats' "post-election plan," saying "they will hound him and his many companies if they win power in the midterm elections."
