Supreme Court Refuses to Halt NY Subpoena for Trump Tax Records

The Supreme Court denied an October 2020 request by former President Donald Trump to block Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance from enforcing a 2019 subpoena for Trump’s financial records. The decision, released along with several others on Monday, paved the way for a New York grand jury to privately review tax return records that Trump had long refused to release publicly. The court also rejected appeals from Trump and Republicans over contested 2020 voting rules, as well as an appeal from porn star Stormy Daniels in a defamation case against the former president. Left- and center-rated outlets tended to feature this story more prominently than right-rated outlets, which were less likely to have original reporting on the tax records decision.
