Updated on 11/3/26 at 10:00 p.m. MT to include Senate win by Democrats. This is a developing story and will be updated.

Democrats are projected to take the US House after flipping several Congressional seats on Tuesday night. Democrats also won the Senate after winning 51 seats with nine races still uncalled. Democrats have won several key races across the country, including in gubernatorial races. Ballots are still being counted and some races remain uncalled.

House Elections: As of 11 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Democrats are expected to win the US House, ABC News (Lean Left bias) reported. CNBC (Lean Left) projected the party could win at least 225 seats in the chamber. New York Post (Right) wrote that Democrats were poised to gain control of the House after a "GOP shellacking." The outlet highlighted several Democrat-won races and said Democrats were able to keep their "opponents' gerrymandered advantages at bay."

Senate Elections: Democrats won the Senate. Annie Andrews became South Carolina's first Democratic Senator in almost 30 years Tuesday night. Democrat James Talarico also flipped a seat in Texas, which The Hill (Center) called a "massive blow to President Trump." In North Carolina, Democrat Roy Cooper won a seat, becoming the first Democrat to win a Senate race in the state since 2008.

Trump's Response: President Trump reportedly told CBS News (Lean Left), "My message is, congratulations to the Democrats, and I look forward to working with you for the good of our country." He also reportedly acknowledged the Iran war might have been a reason for Republican losses. In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, "I wasn't on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!"

Governor Races: Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms became the first black woman elected as governor of a US state after winning in Georgia on Tuesday. It's the first time a Democrat has won the gubernatorial election in Georgia in over 25 years. In Texas, Democrat Gina Hinojosa won the gubernatorial race, defeating incumbent Republican Governor Greg Abbott. She is the first Democratic governor in Texas since 1995. Fox News (Right) reported that Republican Byron Donalds, who was backed by President Trump, became Florida's first black governor. Several local outlets also covered the gubernatorial race in Ohio where Democrat Amy Acton won against Republican Vivek Ramaswamy.

An Election of 'Firsts': Several outlets on the left and in the center noted historic election wins on Tuesday night. New York Times (Lean Left) contextualized Bottoms' Georgia win within its history as a state "shaped by the legacies of slavery, segregation and the fight for civil rights." Forbes (Center) reported that Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas won the New Hampshire Senate race making him the first openly gay man elected to the Senate. AM New York (not rated) reported Hakeem Jeffries was poised to become the first black House Speaker on Tuesday if Democrats took the House. In Minnesota, Democrat Peggy Flanagan became the first Native American woman in the US Senate.
