Trump Holds Farewell Press Conference For Musk

Summary from the AllSides News Team

President Donald Trump and Elon Musk appeared together in the Oval Office for Musk's final press conference as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)

Key Quotes: “Elon gave an incredible service. Nobody liked him, and he had to go through the slings and the arrows, which is a shame, because he’s an incredible patriot,” Trump said, handing Musk a golden White House key. While his official service as a special government employee is over, Musk said he would continue to support the DOGE team and will continue to be a “friend and advisor” to the president.

Questions About Musk's Drug Use: One reporter began to ask Musk about a New York Times (Lean Left bias) report that came out this morning describing Musk's drug use on the campaign trail, but Musk dismissed it, saying, is this “the same publication” that won a Pulitzer Prize “for their lies about the Russiagate hoax...Let's move on.”

How The Media Covered It: The Guardian (Left) said, “In the last 130 days Doge under Musk has caused chaos as it haphazardly eliminated thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in contracts without actually saving the country very much at all. Indeed Doge has failed to deliver a fraction of the $2tn savings Musk promised, though he insisted he was confident it would get to that number 'in time,'" adding, "The two glossed over questions pertaining to Musk’s criticisms of Trump’s 'big, beautiful' tax bill, which will add massively to the national deficit and undermine Doge’s mission to cut spending.” CNBC (Lean Left) said, “Musk’s scheduled departure comes at a precarious moment,” while outlets on the right recounted the conference with neutrally.

President Donald Trump on Friday hosted a press event to celebrate Elon Musk as the Tesla CEO concludes his official government service after four turbulent months leading the so-called Department of Government Efficiency.

Musk’s scheduled departure comes at a precarious moment, both for DOGE and for his relationship with the president.

Multiple top staffers at DOGE have either recently left or are on their way out of the federal workforce-slashing group. They include Steve Davis, the president of Musk’s Boring Company, and DOGE spokeswoman Katie Miller, White House officials told NBC News. Attorney James Burnham is also reportedly leaving...
