Summary from the AllSides News Team
Many mainstream news sources that initially framed Hunter Biden's now-infamous laptop as disinformation now acknowledge its existence, which has sparked commentary from conservatives. AllSides was unable to find recent mention of this narrative from the left or center.
Liberal Media Miss: After the FBI confirmed the existence of Hunter Biden’s laptop during his federal criminal trial, an analysis from Fox News (Right bias) claimed the original report from The New York Post (Lean Right bias) was vindicated and criticized several mainstream outlets on the left for dismissing it without later walking back their claims. Fox, which requested comments from several outlets, said CNN “rejected the premise” of its inquiries, while MSNBC, NBC News, CBS News, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Politico, and NPR did not reply.
Trump Was Right: Ingrid Jacques (Lean Right bias) of USA Today (Lean Left bias) wrote an opinion suggesting the laptop’s entry into court records proves “how right” former President Donald Trump was for raising it in the presidential debate just before the 2020 election. Jacques noted how President Biden called the laptop report a “bunch of garbage” and cited a letter signed by 50 U.S. intelligence officials claiming it was Russian disinformation.
Credibility Issue: Armstrong Williams (Lean Right bias), part-owner of The Baltimore Sun (Center bias), penned an opinion for the paper that called the laptop’s validation “a tale of journalist gullibility mixed with confirmation bias that begets false stories and a credibility gap with readers.” Williams argued to narrow the credibility gap, “journalists should follow the facts and leave speculation or advocacy to others.”

Trump made references to the recently published New York Post story about Hunter Biden’s now-infamous laptop.
“They’re calling it the laptop from hell,” Trump said.
How right he was. The laptop just made an official appearance in federal court this week. More on that shortly.

Journalists are taught to be skeptical of sources with transparent ulterior motives.
That lesson was forgotten by the mainstream media when the New York Post reported on incriminating emails allegedly found on Hunter Biden’s laptop hard drive that could have subverted Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential aspirations. The emails reportedly showed corruption in the Biden family.

Hunter Biden’s scandalous laptop, which was originally dismissed as Russian disinformation by many media outlets, pundits and even liberal allies in the intelligence community, was formally entered into evidence and confirmed by the FBI this week in his ongoing federal gun crime trial.
The "laptop from hell," which is filled with videos and photos of drug use, sex acts, and sensitive business communications, was shown to the jury on Tuesday to try to prove the president's son lied about using drugs on a gun purchase form. While the laptop has since been...
