The technology industry in Greater Boston and Massachusetts had its struggles in 2024. Employment and job postings declined and workforce diversity lagged behind other metro areas.

But the sector also enjoyed notable bright spots, such as large venture capital investments in firms such as battery maker Ascend Elements and quantum computing startup QuEra. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence is gaining ground, with the number of job listings requiring AI skills shooting up.
