The top House leaders from both parties are setting up a bipartisan task force to investigate the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump and the stunning security failures that allowed it to happen. 

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R., La.) and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D., N.Y.) announced the panel Tuesday, a day after a blistering congressional hearing in which Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle refused to answer most questions about the July 13 shooting at a campaign rally.
