Utah Health and Human Services responds to ‘harsh criticism’ in Disability Law Center report

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4) — The Department of Health and Human Services responded to a report released Thursday that “paints a picture of mistreatment” of individuals at disability centers, including Midvale’s Evergreen Place. The Evergreen Place was investigated in January 2022 over “concerning conditions,” and authorities said they found it was grimy, filthy, dirty, and including an insect infestation. Two men who managed the unlicensed, assisted-living home in Midvale were charged earlier this month for unsafe and unsanitary living conditions, financial exploitation, and licensing violations.
