House shuts down early to block Epstein vote

House Speaker Mike Johnson said he would be shutting down the House early for its summer recess after demands from Democratic lawmakers to release files related to Jeffrey Epstein.
Johnson said the House would adjourn until September in order to avoid what he calls “political games.” The announcement comes after the House Oversight Committee voted to subpoena Ghislaine Maxwell, a longtime partner of Epstein’s.
