Police Seek 'Vehicle of Interest' in Slayings of 4 Muslim Men in New Mexico

Police are seeking a 'vehicle of interest' as authorities investigate the shooting deaths of four men of Muslim faith in Albuquerque, New Mexico over the past year.

The vehicle, according to Albuquerque Deputy Police Chief Cecily Barker, is a dark gray or metallic charcoal Volkswagen Jetta, sold in North America between 2011 and 2018. Mohammad Ahmadi was killed last November, and on Friday afternoon, Naeem Hussain was shot to death. Two other Muslim men - 41-year-old Aftab Hussein and 27-year-old Muhammad Afzaal Hussain - were shot and killed on July 26 and August 1 outside their homes.

These slayings have led to an outcry in Albuquerque's Muslim community, as local law enforcement and city officials denounce the violence and assure the community that they are working together to deploy every resource to this investigation. New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has deployed additional state police to help with the probe into what appears to be "targeted killings," and President Joe Biden has expressed anger and sadness over the possibility that the violence was driven by opposition to the victim's faith.
