Trump and Chief Justice John Roberts Spar Over Independence of Judiciary

President Trump and Chief Justice John Roberts sparred over the independence of America's judiciary after Trump labeled the federal judge who blocked his migrant asylum executive order as an "Obama judge." Some argue that Roberts was right to stand up to Trump, as the president has consistently criticized judges who issue rulings he disagrees with. Others say that Roberts should not have voiced his opinion, insisting he should remain completely nonpolitical.
