Senate Staffer Loses Job After Allegedly Filming Sex Tape in Capitol Hill Hearing Room
Summary from the AllSides News Team
A leaked self-filmed video showed two men having sex in a Senate hearing room, one of whom is reportedly Aidan Maese-Czeropski, a staffer for Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD).
The Details: The video, which was first circulated in a “group for gay men in politics,” was published by The Daily Caller (Right bias) on Friday. Maese-Czeropski is no longer employed by Cardin’s office, and Capitol police are investigating the matter.
Key Quotes: Maese-Czeropski posted on LinkedIn saying, “while some of my actions in the past have shown poor judgment, I love my job and would never disrespect my workplace. Any attempts to characterize my actions otherwise are fabricated and I will be exploring what legal options are available to me in these matters.” Cardin’s office said it was a "personnel matter" and that “Maese-Czeropski is no longer employed by the US Senate.”
How The Media Covered It: Forbes (Center bias) noted that hours before the Daily Caller story broke, The Spectator (Right bias) reported an unnamed Cardin staffer posted a nude photo of himself on social media in the same hearing room. Fox News (Right bias) said Maese-Czeropski could face criminal charges. Overall, left- and center-rated sources covered the story less prominently than right-rated sources did.
