Author of 'Anonymous' Op-Ed Revealed as Former DHS Chief of Staff Miles Taylor

Former Department of Homeland Security chief of staff and CNN contributor Miles Taylor revealed himself to be the “senior administration official” who anonymously criticized President Donald Trump in a 2018 New York Times op-ed and a subsequent book. In a statement released to CNN, Taylor called on Republicans to “put country over party, even if that means supporting Trump's Democratic opponent.” Taylor denied being the anonymous author on CNN shortly before he was hired as a CNN contributor. White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany sharply criticized Taylor on Wednesday, calling him “a liar and a coward.” President Trump told supporters in Arizona that “in my opinion [Taylor] should be prosecuted.” Coverage in right-rated outlets tended to focus on criticisms of Taylor and accusations that he lied about authoring the anonymous op-ed.
