Justice Pursues Those Involved in Capitol Breach

In comments that have since been walked back, federal prosecutors wrote in court this week that those who breached the U.S. Capitol building intended to "capture and assassinate elected officials in the United States government." Those involved are now facing criminal consequences, as the FBI has opened more than 170 case files and arrested at least 70 people in connection with the breach. Many reports, especially from left- and center-rated sources, concentrated on ongoing federal probes of and intent behind the breach. Some highlighted reports that those who broke into the building allegedly included highly-trained ex-military and members of law enforcement, connecting those claims to larger concerns about right-wing extremism within police departments and military outfits. Some coverage from right-rated sources focused on John Sullivan, a left-wing activist arrested for his alleged role in the breach.
