Cuomo Declares State of Emergency As Hurricane Henri Travels Up Northeast Coast

Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency on Saturday for New York City, Long Island and Hudson Valley. The tropical storm is being described by some outlets as the most serious hurricane risk seen in New England in 30 years. In one of his final actions as governor before stepping down from office on Monday, Cuomo called on 500 National Guard troops to respond to the storm. Describing the hurricane "as serious as a hard attack," Cuomo advised New Yorkers "in an area that tends to flood" to get to higher ground immediately.
