City of Akron settles civil rights lawsuit with Jayland Walker protesters
SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - The City of Akron has reached a settlement in a civil rights lawsuit with Jayland Walker protesters. According to a news release, the city agreed to pay $747,000 to the plaintiffs. Jayland Walker, 25, of Akron, was shot and killed by Akron police on June 27, 2022 after an attempted traffic stop. There were multiple protests throughout the city after the shooting. “
