Texas teachers unveil Bill of Rights in push to repeal takeover legislation

A statewide teachers union aims to bring an "Educator's Bill of Rights" to the Legislature in 2025 that includes a call to repeal legislation that allows for "hostile state takeover of districts by an appointed education commissioner" as part of a right to democratic representation. Texas AFT, representing 66,000 members, pointed to the initiative as a way to retain educators.
