110 trucking schools shut down over English requirement violations

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin announced the shutdown of 110 truck driving schools Monday, saying they violated the Trump administration's new English proficiency standards.

At a news conference in Detroit, Duffy also warned over 160 more schools could be closed, claiming they lacked the space to properly train applicants and employed unlicensed drivers to perform driving tests. He said the DOT has launched a nationwide audit of third-party testers in the industry.
