The largest school district in the US is banning artificial intelligence tools and restricting screen time for elementary and middle school students in the upcoming school year.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the Schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels unveiled the new rule on Wednesday, a week before classes begin on Sept. 10. It will apply to roughly 600,000 public school students.
