Penny-sized hail and damaging winds expected with thunderstorms to hit DeKalb and Jackson counties Tuesday

On Tuesday at 7:18 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning valid until 8 p.m. for DeKalb and Jackson counties. The storms may bring wind gusts of up to 60 mph and penny-sized hail (0.75 inches). "At 7:18 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Pisgah, or 8 miles east of Scottsboro, moving east at 20 mph," according to the weather service. "Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees." Locations impacted by the warning include Scottsboro, Henagar, Stevenson, Hollywood, Ider, Pisgah, Martintown, Rosalie, Fabius and Higdon. The...
