Penny-sized hail and damaging winds expected with thunderstorms to hit DeKalb and Jackson counties Tuesday

On Tuesday at 7:18 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning valid until 8 p.m. for DeKalb and Jackson counties. The storms may bring wind gusts of up to 60 mph and penny-sized hail (0.75 inches). "At 7:18 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Pisgah, or 8 miles east of Scottsboro, moving east at 20 mph," according to the weather service. "Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees."
