Woman Who Called Child ‘N-Word’ on Playground Raises Over $600,000

A Minnesota woman has raised over $600,000 to help “protect” her family after a video surfaced of her directing a racial slur at a child on a playground.

The Details: Shiloh Hendrix is seen in a video on a playground where she is in an argument with a Somali man who confronted her for calling the child a “n****r.” Hendrix accused the child of stealing from her son’s bag. The man, who NBC News (Lean Left bias) identified as Sharmake Omar, responded to her, “We’ll see… what the internet has to say about you.” The Rochester Police Department is reportedly investigating the incident.

The Fundraiser: Hendrix launched a fundraiser on GiveSendGo on Thursday and has currently raised nearly $628,000 of her $1 million goal. Hendrix said she “called the kid out for what he was” and claimed she has been doxxed, with her Social Security number, address, phone number, child’s school, and workout location being exposed. She said her family has been targeted by “extreme people online” and “must relocate.”

For Context: Last month, a fundraiser for Karmelo Anthony, the boy who was accused of murdering fellow high school athlete Austin Metcalf, raised $521,000 on GiveSendGo.

How The Media Covered It: NBC News interviewed Omar, who claimed the child was autistic and his parents were tending to his siblings elsewhere on the playground. The New York Post (Lean Right) noted at the end of its coverage that “Some online commenters claimed Hendrix’s fundraising from the incident was a ‘public reckoning’” after the fundraising successes of Anthony and his family. The Washington Post (Lean Left) described GiveSendGo as the “Christian crowdfunding service” that has been used by “Daniel Penny, Luigi Mangione and Kyle Rittenhouse,” but did not mention Anthony.
