Perspectives: The 2020 Republican National Convention Begins

On Monday, 336 delegates gathered in North Carolina's Charlotte Convention Center to renominate Donald Trump and Mike Pence as the Republican Party’s nominees for president and vice president. Delegates, who traditionally number up to 2,500, were tested for COVID-19 and required to wear masks. The 2020 Republican National Convention will run from Monday to Thursday and will feature speeches from Republican politicians, media figures, and President Trump's children. Trump will speak every night of the convention. Voices in left-rated outlets tended to expect negative campaign rhetoric from the RNC, while also including some pro-Trump voices. Voices in right-rated outlets tended to expect positive campaign rhetoric from the Republican convention, while also including some voices wary of certain aspects of the convention.
