Marjorie Taylor Greene Faces Republican Pushback on Epstein Files Release

Marjorie Taylor Greene has faced pushback from the White House and other Republicans for supporting Rep. Thomas Massie’s (R-KY) petition for the Trump administration to release all documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, including a client list.
The Petition: Massie’s petition, proposed earlier this year, would force the Justice Department to release all the Epstein files. According to Newsweek (Center bias), one alleged victim of Epstein’s sexual abuse said during a news conference on Wednesday that she and other victims were compiling a list of other abusers they say have been associated with Epstein. Massie said the victims “would be sued into homelessness for naming names,” but that Massie and Greene plan on taking advantage of constitutional immunity in order to do so on the House of Representatives floor.
Republican Split: New York Times (Lean Left) highlighted that though at the beginning of the summer, Massie had “nearly a dozen Republicans ready to sign on to his effort,” only three Republicans, all of whom are women, are still on board after Congress’s summer recess. The Times compared this gender split within the party to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s confirmation hearings, where three female Republicans were “among the few G.O.P. senators willing to publicly voice skepticism.” Daily Beast (Left) further highlighted the Republican divide, reporting that right-wing influencer Laura Loomer “slammed” and “blasted” Greene for supporting the petition. “MTG is a FRAUD, and a phony, two faced b---- who used Trump to advance her career,” Loomer wrote on X. National Review (Lean Right) described Massie as “Libertarian-leaning” and called him a “longtime thorn in House GOP leaders’ side.”
White House Pushback: According to National Review, Trump said the push to release the client list is a “Democrat hoax that never ends.” It also wrote that “The White House is not happy” about the petition, “to say the least.”

When he returned on Tuesday, Mr. Massie had just three still on board — and they were all women.
