NASA Delays New Moon Rocket Launch Over Technical Issues

Summary from the AllSides News Team

NASA's uncrewed launch of its new moon rocket was postponed Monday due to an engine issue.

The Artemis I launch of the Space Launch System rocket and Orion capsule was called off Monday morning after one of the rocket's four engines failed to get up to the proper temperature. NASA plans to use the rocket to return people to the Moon for the first time since the 1970s. Friday is the earliest that a rescheduled launch would take place.

NASA says despite the issue, the rocket and capsule "remain in a safe and stable configuration." The rocket is 322 feet long and NASA's most powerful ever. Current estimates project NASA's first crewed moon landing with Artemis to happen by 2025.

The launch's delay was a top story from news sources across the political spectrum Monday morning.
