Lindsey Graham Predicts Riots if Trump Prosecuted Over Classified Info
Summary from the AllSides News Team
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) appeared on Fox News Sunday and predicted that there would be "riots in the streets" if former President Donald Trump is prosecuted over classified information taken from Mar-a-Lago.
Graham argued that there was a "double standard" in matters related to Trump when compared to the controversy over Hillary Clinton's use of a personal email server while serving as Secretary of State. At the time, Clinton was found by then-FBI Director James Comey to be "extremely careless" in her handling of classified information, but she was not prosecuted.
The comparison arose after the FBI raided Trump's home at Mar-a-Lago earlier this month, and after the underlying affidavit noted that the government was investigating the improper storage and removal of classified information. Trump has said that he declassified the documents before he left office. A federal judge in Florida is indicating that the court is inclined to appoint a special master, having received the request for one by the Trump legal team.
News sources across the political spectrum reported on Graham's comments and highlighted his remark about potential riots.
