Summary from the AllSides News Team

A new California law signed by Governor Gavin Newsom on Tuesday will require all presidential candidates to disclose the last five years of their tax returns in order to be eligible for placement on the state's 2020 election ballot. Most outlets reported that the law was directly targeted at President Donald Trump, whose tax returns are not public. Some on the left focused on ongoing efforts at both the federal and state level to force Trump to release his returns; many on the right focused on Republican claims that the law is unconstitutional and will not survive a legal challenge.
