EU Ready for Second Attempt at Australia Trade Deal, Envoy Says

The European Union is ready and willing to make a second attempt at securing a free trade deal with Australia, EU Ambassador Gabriele Visentin said, while adding that the main obstacles to an accord that were identified in 2023 are largely unchanged.

Visentin said in a speech to the National Press Club in Canberra on Wednesday that the “incredible” changes in geopolitics and global trade since the negotiations fell apart had encouraged both governments to “team up and defend free trade.”
