Steve Bannon Prison News Sparks MAGA Fury

The prison news of longtime Trump ally Steve Bannon has sparked fury among MAGA fans, who claim it further shows "the death of the judicial system in America."

On Thursday, a federal judge ordered Bannon to report to prison by July 1 for defying a House subpoena, granting the Justice Department's request that Bannon serve out his four-month prison sentence while he tries to appeal his conviction. A jury found Bannon guilty on two criminal charges of contempt of Congress in July 2022. He was sentenced in October 2022.

"It is with great sadness and anger that we observe the death of the judicial system in America," Representative Matt Gaetz wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter. "Steve Bannon sought judicial review of the illegal demands of a runaway congressional committee, unlike any ever comprised. It was literally a matter of first impression. And they're sending him to prison - not just to torture him but to torture us."
