Once an eyesore, Detroit's Michigan Central Station set for grand opening

Detroit City Council on Tuesday approved Michigan Central Station's plans to host its long-awaited grand opening this summer, which is expected to hold a concert and draw thousands of attendees. Ford Motor Co. will hold Michigan Central OPEN, or what it calls a "global celebration of Detroit and Detroiters," with a June 6 concert to kick off the restoration of the grand ornate building that was once an eyesore and a national symbol of disrepair in Detroit.
