NJEA backs Democratic House members for re-election

The 200,000-member New Jersey Education Association has endorsed Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes) for re-election in New Jersey’s 7th district, along with eight other Democratic incumbents seeking re-election in 2022.

“New Jersey has the best public schools in the nation thanks in good measure to the advocacy of NJEA,” Malinowski said.  “Support for our educators is an investment in the future of our kids, and I will never stop fighting to ensure they are treated with the dignity they deserve.”

The state’s largest public employee union is also backing Reps. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown), Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff) and Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair), who face potentially competitive races for another term.

The NJEA is also backing Reps. Donald Norcross (D-Camden), Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-Long Branch), Bill Pascrell. Jr. (D-Paterson) and Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Ewing).  They had previously announced support for Rep. Donald Payne, Jr. (D-Newark).

“They have demonstrated through their actions that they are advocates for public education and for working families,” said the top three NJEA officials, president Sean Spiller, Vice President Steve Beatty and Secretary-Treasurer Petal Robertson.  “They have stood with educators through these difficult past two years as we have worked to ensure that our schools are safe and that our students are learning.”
