Gov. Cuomo Declares State Of Emergency Ahead Of Hurricane Henri, Pushes Back On Scandal While Briefing Preparation Efforts

Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) has declared a state of emergency as Hurricane Henri approaches New York. Cuomo deployed 500 National Guard troops on Saturday, detailing plans ahead of the life-threatening storm’s arrival.

The National Hurricane Center reported that more than 42 million people in the region have been placed under hurricane or tropical storm warnings as Henri could make landfall in Eastern Long Island sometime on Sunday.

The governor is expected to leave office on Aug. 23 and has continued to dodge questions regarding his sexual harassment scandal while discussing preparation efforts. “If you think justice is to accept a complaint from a person without investigation, and without credibility determinations and without looking at past actions of that person, then you don’t know what the justice system is,” claimed Cuomo.

In the meantime, Cuomo has urged New Yorkers not to put themselves at risk and stressed the storm is as serious as a heart attack.
