The next Democratic debate may be a two-candidate affair.

Criteria released by NBC News and YouTube ahead of the Jan. 17 debate will make it difficult for former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley to qualify for the stage, a severe blow to his campaign. If Mr. O’Malley is cut, only front-runner Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders would participate in the debate in South Carolina.
