Trump pulls federal funds for California’s high-speed rail

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday his administration had eliminated federal funding for California’s high-speed rail project, making good on his promise to end government support for the project.

Trump has for months threatened to pull Obama- and Biden-era grants amounting to about $4 billion for the planned rail line stretching through the Central Valley and ultimately connecting Los Angeles to San Francisco.

“This project was Severely Overpriced, Overregulated, and NEVER DELIVERED,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “Thanks to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, not a SINGLE penny in Federal Dollars will go towards this Newscum SCAM ever again.”

Trump’s announcement Wednesday came after the U.S. Transportation Department issued a scathing report last month slamming the ambitious development for “missed deadlines, budget shortfalls, and overrepresentation of projected ridership.”
