Plane lands safely in a California watermelon field after engine failure

A small plane traveling from Santa Paula to Pacoima made an emergency landing Sunday in a Valencia watermelon field after experiencing engine failure. Authorities were called just before 5:10 p.m. to a field near the 5 Freeway and Six Flags Magic Mountain, where a single-engine plane made an emergency landing after experiencing engine failure, said Deputy Miesha McClendon with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
